Prototype and series production of the Audio Server

Baudisch Electronic manufactures assemblies and devices for numerous industries – including building automation. Since 2013, Loxone, a specialist for smart home technologies, has also been one of our customers. The ambitious Austrian company currently manages around 140,000 projects in over 99 countries. In the most recent project, we were responsible for the production of Loxone’s new audioserver.
Thanks to the close cooperation with the customer and the flexible deployment of all departments, the product was delivered on time despite an unexpected complication.

Before the start of serial production, a pilot series of the audioserver was manufactured and extensively tested. The tests showed that a 100% functionality was not given. In order to maintain the agreed delivery date, the test results had to be analysed as quickly as possible and the source of the error had to be identified and eliminated.

In order to speed up the troubleshooting, our developers reinforced the Loxone team at short notice. After an intensive search, the cause of the malfunction was found within 24 hours: The fourth inner layer of the purchased 6-layer multilayer PCBs had been modified by the PCB manufacturer without consulting Loxone or us.

To prevent further delays, new PCBs had to be obtained as quickly as possible. Through daily 2-hour crisis meetings held online between Baudisch Electronic, Loxone and the PCB manufacturer, the situation was clarified and the corrected PCBs were manufactured and delivered to Baudisch as a rush service.

The challenge for us now was to manufacture the audioserver within the production time window, which had been greatly reduced by more than 2 weeks. By switching to a 3-shift system for a short time, the production capacities could be increased. Thus, the first units were completed and delivered in time for the product launch.

After the product release, there was a gratifyingly high demand for the audioserver, which led to an increased production volume. Thanks to the flexibility and tireless commitment of our staff, we were able to meet this challenge in parallel with other important customer projects.
