Green electricity from our own roof: our path to greater sustainability
Sustainability is a continuous process at Baudisch. Step by step, measures are being implemented to reduce CO₂ emissions and use resources responsibly. An important part of this process is the photovoltaic system, which has now been modernized and expanded – for more power, greater efficiency and even more green electricity from the company’s own roof.
THE CHALLENGE: HUNGER FOR ENERGY IN ELECTRONICS PRODUCTION
Power consumption in electronics production is enormous. Our high-performance machinery ensures maximum precision and quality – but it is also very energy-intensive. Office operations also require a lot of energy every day. This is precisely where the majority of our CO₂ emissions are generated.
Ten years ago, a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof when the new company building was built. However, the technology, which was modern at the time, no longer meets current standards. Its efficiency was limited, so the modules only covered part of our needs and a lot of potential remained unused.
NEW PV MODULES FOR MORE EFFICIENCY
In order to exploit the full potential and keep pace with technology, our previous solar modules have been replaced by modern, more powerful models – with around twice the output per module.
Around a third of the old modules were reused and installed on the administration building. With the new high-performance modules, we can now generate a significantly larger proportion of our energy requirements ourselves – including for our high-performance machinery.
BENEFITS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND CUSTOMERS
Modernization has several effects that extend far beyond our company:
- Climate protection: The higher proportion of self-consumption allows us to noticeably reduce our CO₂ emissions.
- Sustainability: We focus on renewable energies and show that responsible management is possible in electronics production.
- Regional energy transition: Every self-generated solar kilowatt hour relieves the load on the grids and supports the energy transition directly on site.
- Reliability for our customers: A sustainable energy supply strengthens our production – and thus the security and future viability of the projects that we realize for our customers.
With the expanded photovoltaic system, we are using our resources more efficiently, reducing CO₂ emissions and actively shaping our energy supply. For us, progress not only means technological innovation, but also responsibility – for the environment, for our customers and for future generations.
