Effective Project Planning for Optimal Results with Baudisch

At Baudisch Electronic, we emphasize meticulous project planning to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Project management plays a key role in overseeing, monitoring, and controlling the execution of planned activities, ensuring optimal results.

DEFINITION AND DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROJECT PLANNING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project Planning is the process that lays the foundation for project success. Through detailed planning, clear goals are defined, resources are efficiently allocated, and potential risks are identified and mitigated.

PROJECT PLANNING

Project planning is the process of creating a detailed plan that describes how a project will be executed. It involves setting goals, tasks, schedules, resources, and budgets.

Goal: To create a comprehensive plan that serves as a guide for carrying out and managing the project.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project management complements project planning and ensures that the created plan is effectively implemented. It is the overarching process of leading, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of a project to ensure project goals are achieved. It involves applying knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities.

Goal: To ensure the successful completion of the project by keeping it within the set timeline, budget, and scope while meeting quality standards.

VON DER IDEE ZUR REALITÄT: PHASEN EINES ERFOLGREICHEN PROJEKTS

The execution of a successful project occurs in several phases. Each phase includes specific tasks, from goal-setting and resource allocation to actual execution and the evaluation and documentation of results:

    1. INITIIERUNG

    2. CONCEPT PHASE

This phase focuses on clarifying the technological feasibility and reproducibility of the product. Suitable technologies are selected, initial simulations are performed, and technical specifications are refined. Early laboratory prototypes are created to test the feasibility of the concept.

    3. PLANNING

The detailed planning phase includes defining the project scope, assembling the project team, and creating a work breakdown structure (WBS). A timeline is developed, resources are allocated, and a risk analysis is conducted. The communication plan outlines how information will be exchanged between project stakeholders.

    4. EXECUTION – HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT

In the execution phase, the plans are put into action. At Baudisch Electronic, we use Altium Designer for hardware development. Schematics are created, components are selected, and layouts are designed. The design is simulated and tested to complete the hardware development process, culminating in the release of production data.

    5. EXECUTION – SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

This phase includes the selection of controllers and memory, the development of firmware, and the implementation of bootloaders. Real-time operating systems (RTOS) are used to manage time-critical tasks. Applications and user interfaces are optimized, and web apps are developed for system control.

    6. MONITORING AND CONTROL

In this phase, the project progress is continuously monitored. Regular meetings help identify issues early on. Milestones are reviewed, risks are managed, and quality assurance is performed. Change management ensures that adjustments to the project scope, timeline, or resources are controlled and documented.

    7. TESTING OF DEVELOPMENT PROTOTYPES

Development prototypes are thoroughly tested to meet all requirements. This includes technical testing, environmental and safety tests, as well as conformity assessments. After successful testing, the release for mass production is granted.

    8. QUALITY ASSURANCE

In this phase, the final product is checked for quality and safety. This includes visual inspections, automated optical inspections, and electrical tests. Test adapters are developed, and the effort required for manufacturing and testing during production is evaluated.

    9. INITIAL SERIES

The initial series marks the transition to mass production. It includes the production with series components, manufacturing inspections, and the approval for further mass production. The project is completed after the successful initial production.

    10. PROJECT CLOSURE

The project closure includes evaluation by the team and the customer, documenting insights (lessons learned), and the complete documentation of all project data. The project is formally closed with the customer’s acceptance.
